Happy Fathers' Day
06/05/2005

Once you become a father
You are forever a father
No matter how old you get
A father, no one forgets

That's why we celebrate this special day
So the whole world can stop and say
We acknowledge you for taking this role
At the physical level and at your soul

Being a father is not a simple job
Not in America nor anywhere around the globe
You become a roll model in every action you take
In every choice you make

At first your children regard you as God
Then they attempt to bend your rod
Following by attempts to manipulate you
Change, control, and tell you what to do

When it all fails they distance from you
Until they can change their view
When they begin to learn their own truth
They see you in a different light from their youth
They learn more about fatherhood
No more could or should, they see you for the good

If you are lucky enough they come around
Finding love for you that is profound
Hopefully it will happen when you are still around
So they can with love you surround

I want to thank you for being my dad
From feeling bad, mad, sad, and now glad
I am thankful for choosing you dad
As you are, nothing to change or add

I only desire to love you a lot more
Let the waves of love continue to soar
As they find their way to shore
I love you dad! I roar!

Love

Steven
