A Real Hug
09/08/2004

Last night I got a real hug
She held me tight and snug
She held and didn't let go
Allowing this feeling of flow

I said “that's a hug”
She said, “I don't give fake hugs”
Time has shifted to become eternal in space
All there was to be is love and grace

Two old souls met again
In the midst of a journey that seems insane
I woke up this morning
For a hug longing

Giving a hug is so easy to do
Only if you knew
How much of a difference it makes
How little effort it takes

When was the last time you gave a real hug
It's addictive like a drug
A real hug is given for no reason
No need to wait for the right season

To be touched by a real hug
Is to be reignited with a sparks plug
It is to be noticed when you are invisible to most
It is to be touched by a human and stop feeling like a ghost

Random hugs are free expression of love
When you are held, fitting-in like a glove
No words are necessary to be said
No thoughts to be read

Close your eyes and see the glow
Allowing giving and receiving to flow
Trust that you will know
Before getting taped twice when to let go

Look around for someone who can use a hug
Let them be the coffee and you become the mug
Give them your gift of divinity
Receive a moment of affinity

Hugs are us
Don't make a fuss
Get on the bus
And join the rest of us

Love

Steven
