Consider that time does not exist, but is merely as a concept that resides in our field of thoughts and perceptions. The time concept is very useful as it allows us to communicate and create amazing things.
Although we all share the concept of time, we don't always agree on its value. When we are bored, time is slow. When we are engaged in something we love, time flies by. What we can all agree is that time can only be found in our thoughts.
We also know that thoughts can only exist with regard to the past or the future. When we are present in the moment, there are no thoughts, and the moment appears timeless.
If time does not really exist but only in our thoughts, maybe our battle with time is not really necessary.
The answer to the previous question, "what's the best way to manage time?" is that time can not be managed. But you can certainly manage your thoughts about time. At least I hope so.
If you are ready to give up the battle for more time, maybe you can start by asking yourself how many times a day you have one or more of the following conversations in your head?
- I need to do more
- I need to learn more
- I need to accomplish more results faster
- I am not efficient enough
- There is so much I want to do but I can't find the time
What is common to all of these conversations, is that you are coming from a space of lack with a racing mind that is constantly demanding more.
When we come from a space of lack we think that we are not enough, we don't know enough, and we are legging behind others in life. We constantly judge ourselves and keep demanding for more action.
It doesn't help that we live in a "time is money" society with constant pressure to get busier.
Looking to find more time is like chasing the horizon. The faster you run towards it, the faster it gets away from you. Do you feel like that in your life?
What we know for sure, is that these conversations are creating a huge burden in your mind. They do not contribute anything to move you any faster towards your endless illusionary goals.
You might be asking what can we do?
The answer is do nothing.Llife is not a problem to be solved, and creating more time is only an illusionary goal of the mind.
In the last 3 years I took on a journey of spending a lot of time doing nothing on a regular basis. Imagine having to do nothing more but accept what you accomplished as good enough or even as remarkable.
Imagine the following:
- Letting go of all of your unrealistic expectations
- Letting go of the endless to-do list
- Doing much less but creating much more, and enjoying it too.
- You are enough, you know enough, nothing else is needed for you to be complete
- You are whole and complete every day
I know this conversation is mind troubling, and you might find that your mind resists accepting this. Notice all the thoughts that pop in your mind right now.
Your mind will begin to say the following:
- I feel guilty of missing out on things, what if they are important? What if I am missing out on great opportunities?
- Don't waste any more time on this philosophical conversation, and get busy again. You have so much to do.
- What about learning more, isn't that important?
- Wanting more is a good thing, isn't it?
- I want more money, so what I am doing is probably not enough and I need to do more.
- In order to secure my future I need to invest more time now.
I have learned that you can never escape the mind and or thoughts, but can only embrace them. Try once in a while taking a break, unplugging from your field of thoughts, and connect to the space of being. You get to be who you are and nothing else is needed, no action is necessary, and no thoughts burden this space.
How can you unplug from your mind? You cannot do anything about it, but to allow it to just happen by scheduling time for you to be with yourself, and witness what happens with no expectations.
I just spent a week on the beach in San Diego doing nothing. Every day seemed so long. What is amazing is that I felt I did not do anything, but I ended up accomplishing a lot.
The only time I feel timeless and in space of being, is when I feel love. Reflect back on times you experienced love. There is no separation, no time dimension, and no boundaries. The only other instance I can think of is day dreaming.
Are you ready to give up the battle for more time and begin enjoying the abundance of time that you already have?
Consider that in this space of Time Abundance you will create more without feeling burdened.
